On the Eve of our First Camping Trip

Tomorrow just the five of us are embarking on our first camping trip! We took Daphne back when she was one, but she doesn't remember it, so it doesn't really count as a family trip:)

The girls and Mike are so excited it really is adorable! I too am anxious to get away for a few days before school resumes. But I don't get excited fully until all the preparations are done.

So this evening I've made:

1. Peanut butter cookies
2. Lasagna
3. Marinated chicken
4. Potato Salad (first time ever!)
5. Cut up watermelon

Earlier today, I took the girls to WalMart and Winco for big shopping. It was NOT pleasant at all - especially with my two year old. I had promised the girls our third stop would be the video rental place. I hoped they would watch a movie while I began the cooking prep for our trip. I was so fed up with #3 (poor thing was SO ready for her nap), that I gave Daphne my card, cash and sent her into the store alone to pick out the movies all by herself. Granted, I was parked right in front of the store, and had already put her name on our account prior (just in case of this exact situation). But still, she and I were both so proud.

Tonight I put them to bed and did the bulk of the cooking.

I'm in complete mommy heaven ~ a family outing just a day away, and Ruby and Daphne tucked in together for the first time in Ruby's queen size bed. That's another story in itself, but I think they are on the brink of sharing a room together. Daph even moved in her clothes tonight. They are so alike!

Ahh for raising little girls that can't wait to camp. I just packed their new pink camo hats:)

Just Wanna Blog

Hey Bloggers,

I know it doesn't happen very often, but do ya'll ever have a time in life where there isn't anything real substantial to share or any pictures to display, and yet, you just want to share? You just want to let people know that you are still alive and having real alive feelings and moments, but they might not be interesting to anyone else out there?!

I am having one of those life moments. It could attribute it also to the fact that my camera has been broken for weeks and that seriously hinders blogging.

Anyway, my sister has my girls tonight, so that I can go to work with Mike in the morning. I couldn't get him to take a day off, so I shall ride with him and we'll have that "budget meeting" we've been needing to have all summer. My sister and I have been swapping kids for moments like these more lately and it is divine.

So the house is quiet and I just feel like blogging, but have nothing much to say. So here is my life in a nutshell on August 16th:

~ Had a long day feeling sorry for myself because I have been exercising for 4 plus weeks now, 5 days a week, an hour at a time, and I've lost 3 pounds. Woe to be thirty something with a metabolism that won't jump start itself quickly anymore!

~Walking around in so much pain from a "boot camp" class I took at my sister's gym on Saturday...it hurts to even reach for groceries.

~ Driving home tonight I had one of those unpredicted moments where all my soul misses my Dad, and realizes again in a fresh way that he's gone forever. Grieving that feels inconsolable.

~ Wishing I could clean my house tomorrow while the kids are away but knowing that spending time with Mike will be an investment hugely worth making.

~It was hot and really a ill-productive day today.

Is it okay to blog about these sort of non memorable days????

2 years worth!

I knew I was behind on my picture development - - but two years worth? Ouch when I get those all developed at once!

Going through all the pictures and organizing them on my computer has been really fun! Here's some that you may have never seen:

Too Much Fun?

I guess my body just hit the wall Friday late/Saturday early am. It had been three weeks straight of complete summer fun/madness!

1.VBS - taught three of the five days!

2. Two weeks of swimming lessons everyday

3. Back to the gym everyday.

4. Watching others kids, including my niece and nephew for two days.

5. Cleaning house for fun company gatherings.

6. Parks, Parks, Parks

I woke up Saturday with a bad case of strep throat. But the good thing is that I took the weekend off! Nothing like being sick to slow you down. And it did!

I'm still feeling rather weak today, but the meds are working! Now, I just hope my kids don't get it!!!
