Wah Wah Wah

The weather in Maui is NOT cooperating. I know, I know, you all feel real bad for me! We're still kidless, relaxing and dining - but I am really hoping we get more than one day of laying by the pool. Yesterday I went along for the ride while Mike golfed and I had to wear two sweatshirts to stay warm. But we ended the day at Bubba Gump Shrimp House, right on the ocean in Lahaina - yummy end to a cloudy day.

I miss my girls so much!

This picture is of Mike and I at a real fancy restaurant on Monday night. Very spendy, but so worth the exquisite food and the awesome view. We were fortunate to see a baby whale jump completely out of the water. It was a romantic date for sure!

PS - This was our dessert - The Peanutbutter Bomb! That's their homemade peanut brittle and chocolate pearls on top - TDF!

So far in Hawaii!

We've been in sunny Maui for 2 full days now and completely in the swing of relaxing. We've laid by the pool, eaten out, had yummy drinks, taken a nice morning stroll along the beach boardwalk, watched the Oscars in bed, and this afternoon I actually got bored enough to do a blog post. Can you believe it? Bored? - well, not really, but I am NOT used to this pace! It's wonderful. I wish this for all my readers:)

First Annual Valentine's Day Tea Party

I'm such a romantic...I love traditions of all sorts and want a lot of them with my family. This year I thought of the perfect one! A tea party with my girls every year on Valentine's Day (or maybe the Saturday closest to it). This year we invited both grandma's and two last minute invitees - Jill and Elsa! We're so glad that they were close by this weekend and could stop by for our little party.

Mike took all of the girls to the park and grocery shopping Saturday am, so that I could prepare. It was my only Valentine wish - an hour and a half of run around like mad and whip up a tea party without kids undertow - perfect gift. We had three kinds of tea sandwiches, fruit, Starbucks RED VELVET cupcakes, tea with cream and real sugar cubes to impress the sugar loving kids.

Us "women" had such a fun time talking and helping the "little women" keep the chocolate fondue on their fruit, not their pretty dresses. What a delight.

I have visions of the girls becoming more and more of the planners/creators of this party every year. You know learning how to bake different things, make pretty invitations, decorations and of course the wonderful table manners that all young ladies should have. This year it was all about the anticipation, the dresses, the guests and the pleases and thank-yous. Quite a success, I must say!

Daphne Style

I told Daph, that if she got herself dressed, she could go play outside...The above is what she came up with. Three shirts, gloves, two pairs of pants?, sunhat and gloves. Perfect.

And this little apron is the handiwork of her Grandma Pam. Aren't you wishing you had one too?!

The Color Purple

A couple weeks ago, we went out to a really fun restaurant with three other couples!!! Not only was the company, food, and more food fabulous...we got a great picture of us girls. We were all stylish - unplanned of course - in the "color" of the year - PURPLE. How funny. Amy, Cori, and Jessi - thanks for a really enjoyable night out in the BIG city:)

Let Me Call you Sweetheart

Daphne's playpen came with a detachable doodad that includes a timer, light, and songs. This is where her love of music truly began - no joke. It plays the sweetest songs and we found that it put her to sleep. Mike and I listened to that 10 minute song run through so many times her first years of life - at home and away. The very first song is "Let me call you sweetheart". This song does something for me - it reminds me of my grandma, who sang these older songs to us grandkids growing up and now to her great grandchildren.

One of the girls got this attachment out for Ruby a few weeks ago and hung it on her crib. So now I play it for her every nap and bedtime and once again I am being serenaded by those beautiful words as I walk out of her room, leaving her to her dreams.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I leave you with some information about this unforgettable melody and the lyrics, which I am going to memorize. I love knowing songs to sing the girls to sleep with! And also, as always, a tidbit to think on...

"Why is it that although the male is typically the one that is supposed to think of something romantic on Valentines Day, it's us females that can think of exactly the right Valentine gesture/gift/moment?" For me, this year, all Mike would have to do is sing me this song - very economic in this market, don't you think?!

I hope everyone feels loved by someone this Saturday!

The complete lyrics:
I am dreaming Dear of you, day by day
Dreaming when the skies are blue, When they're gray;
When the silv'ry moonlight gleams, Still I wander on in dreams,
In a land of love, it seems, Just with you.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.
Let me hear you whisper that you love me too.
Keep the love-light glowing in your eyes so true.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.
Longing for you all the while, More and more;
Longing for the sunny smile, I adore;
Birds are singing far and near, Roses blooming ev'rywhere
You, alone, my heart can cheer; You, just you.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.
Let me hear you whisper that you love me too.
Keep the love-light glowing in your eyes so true.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.

Happy Birthday Jill

Upon reflecting on the beginnings of Jill's and my friendship, I realized how very special it is that our pregnancies brought us together. First growing bellies and commiserating on pregnancy pains, then the birth of our babies and experiencing being moms for the first time TOGETHER, and since those special moments SO many wonderful times have been shared.

Happy Birthday and here's to many more fun times as we continue to "grow up" together!
