Daphne's playpen came with a detachable doodad that includes a timer, light, and songs. This is where her love of music truly began - no joke. It plays the sweetest songs and we found that it put her to sleep. Mike and I listened to that 10 minute song run through so many times her first years of life - at home and away. The very first song is "Let me call you sweetheart". This song does something for me - it reminds me of my grandma, who sang these older songs to us grandkids growing up and now to her great grandchildren.
One of the girls got this attachment out for Ruby a few weeks ago and hung it on her crib. So now I play it for her every nap and bedtime and once again I am being serenaded by those beautiful words as I walk out of her room, leaving her to her dreams.
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I leave you with some information about this unforgettable melody and the lyrics, which I am going to memorize. I love knowing songs to sing the girls to sleep with! And also, as always, a tidbit to think on...
"Why is it that although the male is typically the one that is supposed to think of something romantic on Valentines Day, it's us females that can think of exactly the right Valentine gesture/gift/moment?" For me, this year, all Mike would have to do is sing me this song - very economic in this market, don't you think?!
I hope everyone feels loved by someone this Saturday!

The complete lyrics:
I am dreaming Dear of you, day by day
Dreaming when the skies are blue, When they're gray;
When the silv'ry moonlight gleams, Still I wander on in dreams,
In a land of love, it seems, Just with you.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.
Let me hear you whisper that you love me too.
Keep the love-light glowing in your eyes so true.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.
Longing for you all the while, More and more;
Longing for the sunny smile, I adore;
Birds are singing far and near, Roses blooming ev'rywhere
You, alone, my heart can cheer; You, just you.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.
Let me hear you whisper that you love me too.
Keep the love-light glowing in your eyes so true.
Let me call you "Sweetheart," I'm in love with you.
